Colored Tassel Earrings?

Seriously, they're all over the web! Ever since summer has started, neons became a trend. While I was looking for some inspiration to add to my collection for my opening next week, I chanced upon the loveliest pairs of earrings I ever saw: Miso Neon Chain Earrings.

The price for these colorful ear candies? Around Php 600 - 1000. I decided to make my own version right then and there. Here are some pictures but keep in mind this is still a work in progress. :)

Tips and Tricks: Tassel Earrings Tutorial

Tassel Earrings are so in these days! I'm seeing them everywhere! :D And of course, little me doesn't want to be left out. I LOVE GORGEOUS EAR PIECES! :D Down below is MY version of the lovely Tassel Earrings. I don't have any fabric tassels around, so I made use of the chains in my stash. If you want to know how I made them, keep on reading below. *wink*

You need to have a working knowledge on the basic jewelry making skills first to understand the procedure below. For those looking for tutorials on this, I'll be posting a few in later posts. And because it's our sem break, I'm sure I'll be able to make them. :)

What You'll Need:
a roll of thin chain, tape measure, eyepins, ear wires, beads, beadcaps, spacers of your choice and these pliers: round nose, thin flat nose, wide flat nose and cutter pliers

PLEASE DO EXCUSE THE CHIPPED OFF NAILS! XD
STEP 1:
Measure and cut about 2 inches of thin chain. Be careful using the cutter pliers and remember to use a sharp one. Less hassle and less risks. :)
Make at least five of these. You can choose to make more if you want your tassel to be more dense. :) Set chains aside.
Step2:
With your thin flat nose pliers, open the loop at one end of an eye pin.

Step3:
With the eyepin loop opened, start adding the cut chains you made earlier. Continue doing this until all five chains are inside the loop.

Step4:
Using you thin flat nose pliers again, close the loop as shown in the picture below.

Step 5:
At the open end of the eyepin, start adding beads, beadcaps, or spacers. Your choice! Be creative!
Here's what I did with mine. I opted for red glass beads and a simple design by adding a rose spacer on top.
Close the open end with a loop using the round nose pliers and before you know it, you have your first tassel! You're almost done. :)

Step6:
Attach the tassel to an ear wire.
Repeat steps 1-6 to make the other pair. And that's it!
Quite pretty, no? And not that hard to do at all. You also save a lot of money by making your own pair. But wait, there's more! Lookie what I discovered when I hung these earrings against the base of a necklace I'm working on.

Ooohh lala! I think I'm gonna make more of these "tassels". They belong here and I think I'm gonna make a gorgeous statement necklace out of 'em.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? :)

Til next post!
Ciao!
