REVIEW: Cutey Bracelets

Cutey, jewelry making company from the UK, contacted me a few months back to ask if I wanted to try out some of their charm bracelets. And of course I said yes because I live for all things pretty in this world! :)

The quality of these pieces are amazing. And the design is also something that got my attention. The structure of these bracelets (especially Philotes) is something that is unfamiliar to me. Learn more about these arm candies after the jump!

Tips & Tricks: Stretch Bracelet Tutorial

This was a tutorial I made over a year ago...but I didn't have the chance to post it on this blog. Anyhoo, here it is! One of the first few DIY projects I will be making and sharing to all of you! Enjoy and don't hesitate to ask questions or drop thoughts on the comment section below. :D

Stretch bracelets are very versatile and easy to wear and perhaps the easiest to make. But over time, the stretch cord will break or loosen because doing a random knot to secure the piece will just not do it. Learn how to properly tie an elastic or nylon to make your stretch bracelets last longer!

For this project, gather the following materials: Stretch Cord/Elastic/Nylon, Scissors, Colorful Beads, Bails, Charms and Jumprings.

Show and Tell: New Charm Bracelets

I have been on a hiatus for a month, and going back to beading was not as easy as I thought. Before, I used to make five bracelets in one night! But last month was a completely different story. I spent around an hour playing around with the material, redesigning bracelets over and over again and basically, I just couldn't make up my mind.

Good thing I chose to sleep it off and when morning came, I was able to create my first ever charm bracelet since downtime. And much to my surprise, I was easily able to make two others for my new collection. :)

Christmas SALE at djadesigns and streetchiconline!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year! IDK but the season just lifts the spirits in me and I love gift giving. :) Last Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, I opened my annual Christmas Sale! Sneak Peek: Chained Colors

I think it's about time I make silver toned bracelets! :D Silver chains and findings are really not my favorite materials to work with, but a lot of people are always looking for silver in my shops. So, of course I'd have to meet that demand. Like Rockstar Princess, the design for Chained Colors are inspired by the numerous local fashion blogs I have been visiting these past few days. And my oh my! These gurlies are amazing!!! It makes you proud that you're a Filipina.

I only have a few silver materials in my stash and for the "base" of Chained Colors I can only make three ergo I need to choose three colors for the satin ribbons I'll be using in these bracelets. After much deliberation, I chose to use RED, PURPLE, and YELLOW. I'm kinda surprised I didn't throw in PINK there! :D

Aside from the different sizes and chain designs, I also opted to make "detachable" accents for Chained Colors. So the owner will have a choice to use the bracelet base and stack 'em up with other bracelets or bangles or to wear the bracelet alone with its dangle of charms. :) Here's a look at each bracelet and their unique charm accents.

TIPS and TRICKS: Leather Bands Attempt

Leather Bands Attempt

Remember the time when I mentioned I wanted leather bands in my new collection? Well I tried making them today! :D Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that's leather that's NOT braided like this. So, I settled for wax cords instead.

Meet my good 'ole rusty pliers! :D Forgive me, but they HAVE been oiled and cleaned...a few weeks ago. --, Now for this bracelet, you'll need a special kind of crimp bead. I don't know the exact name for this but here's a close up look at that finding.

From there, I just did a basic braid until I got the enough length for it to go around an average person's wrist...then I crimped the braided cords' end with the same finding.

Like the leather bands I saw, I used a lobster lock paired with a chain extender for the bracelet's closure. This way, it can fit MOST wrists.

But obviously not mine! :D I have really thin wrists that I make myself 6.5inch bracelets instead of the average bracelet length which is 7.5 inches.

Despite the "misfit", I kinda liked how the bracelet turned out. Now, I'm sure I'll be making more of these bands in different colors! :D And perhaps even give my future buyers a choice to add charms? Hmmm..what do you think?
